Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre

The Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre is being developed as a key logistics hub in central-west Sydney. The site is close to industrial lands and catchment areas for containerised cargo and has a direct rail connection to Port Botany and to regional areas of New South Wales to help service both import and export requirements.

NSW Ports is developing the site in conjunction with Goodman. For details of the development please see www.enfieldilc.com

The Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre is the largest dedicated rail based intermodal logistics centre in New South Wales. Occupying 60 hectares in Sydney’s central west, the site is close to industrial lands in central and western Sydney with a direct rail connection to Port Botany via the Port Botany Freight Rail Line and rail connection to the national rail network.

Enfield is located on, and accessible from, key arterial road infrastructure including Hume Highway, Roberts Road, the M5 and M4 motorways.

The Logistics Centre includes an intermodal terminal, empty container storage areas and industrial lots for logistics, freight forwarding, packunpack, transport and warehousing uses. These industrial lots benefit from their close interface with the intermodal terminal.

The Enfield intermodal terminal is operated by LINX Cargo Care Group.   The intermodal terminal can accommodate 900 metre trains plus the throughline of 1800 metres is available for the management of longer trains.

Port shuttles will run between the intermodal terminal and each stevedore at Port Botany carrying full and empty containers. Cargo from regional trains can be transferred to shuttle trains destined for Port Botany. Regional trains can be loaded with empty containers to be re-packed in the regions with products for export.

Overall, the logistics centre will reduce the reliance on road transport of containers to and from Port Botany.

The Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre can operate 24 hours per day, seven days a week (24/7).

The facilities at Enfield consist of:

  • A dedicated rail freight link with Port Botany and rail connection to the national network
  • 13ha intermodal terminal
  • 48ha operational land
  • 2 rail sidings of 920m in length plus a throughline of approximately 1800m
  • Empty container storage facilities
  • 66,000m2 land for light industrial and commercial use
