Emergency responders, schools, sporting clubs, environmental initiatives and Indigenous groups are among this year’s recipients of NSW Ports Community Grants, which help build strong, inclusive and thriving neighbourhoods across Sydney and the Illawarra.
NSW Ports CEO Marika Calfas said the business was delighted to support so many people and organisations around its sites of Port Botany, Port Kembla and the Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre.

“NSW Ports is an active member of the communities in which we operate. Many of the workers at our ports live in the surrounding neighbourhoods, so our local communities play an active role in helping to service the trade needs of NSW,” she said.
“From schools and sporting clubs to emergency services, social services and environmental groups, our 2023 grants support and celebrate grassroots organisations that help make our local communities better places to live, work, learn and play.”
Not-for-profit organisations, community groups and schools are among the recipients of grants worth up to $25,000, for local projects, programs and initiatives that deliver positive outcomes across areas such as education, economic development, health, social welfare and the environment.
“This year’s grants will enable recipients such as the PCYC to expand its ‘Fit for Life’ program for disadvantaged young people and Marine Rescue NSW to install electronic signage at Port Kembla to help boaters be safer on the water,” Ms Calfas said.
“Other recipients include Surfing the Spectrum, which will use its grant to run a surf therapy event at Port Kembla Beach for autistic children and their families, and the La Perouse Local Aboriginal Land Council’s Gamay Rangers to fund new equipment to support its research into marine life biodiversity in Sydney.”
