Over the past four days, protestors blocked roads and rail lines servicing Port Botany on five occasions. These incidents caused minimal disruption to port operations, with blockages being of relatively short duration – in the case of road blockages, this ranged from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Protestor activities on rail caused minimal to no disruption.
This afternoon, a protester entered Patrick Terminals and climbed a quay crane. NSW Police responded immediately and the area was isolated, allowing port operations to continue as normal outside that area. Police resolved the incident on Friday night.
We would like to thank NSW Police for their swift action in removing protesters on each occasion. We also thank those businesses at the port, as well as port users, who have assisted in mitigating the impact of these incidents.
NSW Ports and terminal operators have 24/7 security in place at the ports and will continue to work with response agencies and port operators in relation to any such incidents.
